Convert PDF to editable Word documents
PDF is great for sharing a fixed layout, but painful to edit. Converting the text into a Word document lets you rewrite, translate or reuse it without retyping.
1. How it works
- pdf.js reads the text layer of every page in your browser.
- Lines are rebuilt from the position of each text fragment.
- A .docx file is generated with one Word page per PDF page and downloaded automatically.
2. Tips for best results
- Use PDFs exported from Word, Google Docs or similar tools; they contain real text.
- For scanned documents, run OCR first.
- After converting, apply your own headings and styles in Word for a polished result.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is read and the Word file is built entirely in your browser with JavaScript, so your document never leaves your device.
Will the layout be kept?
This converter extracts the text line by line into an editable .docx file with one page per PDF page. Complex layouts, tables and images are not reproduced, so it works best for text documents such as contracts, letters and reports.
Can it convert scanned PDFs?
No. A scanned PDF contains images of text rather than real text, so there is nothing to extract. You would need OCR (optical character recognition) software first.
Does it support Vietnamese and other accented text?
Yes. Text stored as Unicode in the PDF, including Vietnamese diacritics, is extracted correctly and written in Times New Roman.
